Police Investigate Fatal Crash

Monday, April 5, 2021 at approximately 9:15 PM the Iowa Colony Police Department, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Iowa Colony Volunteer Fire Department and, Brazoria County ESD3 Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the 16400 block of State Highway 6 in reference to an automobile vs pedal cyclist crash.

Upon the officers arrival, the pedal cyclist, a 32 year old Rosharon resident, was found deceased in the roadway. It was determined during the investigation that a motor vehicle driven by a 35 year old Missouri City resident, traveling westbound struck the cyclist as he attempted to cross the multilane highway.

The vehicle that struck the pedal cyclist fled the scene however, the driver later returned to the scene and cooperated with investigating officers. Criminal charges related to the crash are pending further investigation.

Brazoria County Justice of the Peace 4-1 Judge Sarah Linder pronounced the pedal cyclist deceased and he was taken to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office. The decedent’s next of kin was notified on scene.
