Position 1

McLean Barnett

Council Member McLean Barnett

Son of a US Marine, grandson of a Lieutenant Colonel, McLean knew from an early age that he wanted to serve his country. His grandfather was the most influential person in his childhood that taught him to be the leader he is today. McLean turned his passion for service and weather into a career as an Aerographer’s Mate for the United States Navy.

At the end of his 8-year stent, he continued into the private weather supporting offshore operations, including being selected as chief meteorologist for Shell Alaska.

In 2016, McLean moved to Iowa Colony and took his passion for service to a new level. Wanting to give back to his community, he became heavily involved in Sterling Lakes Property Owner’s Association and was ultimately appointed in 2019 to serve on the Board of Directors.

As a husband to his wife, Rebecca, for over 21 years and father to two children, Madeline and Logan, McLean remains committed to ensuring all citizens of Iowa Colony are plugged in to make their voices heard. As the growth of the city is critical for its success, McLean wants to ensure that all citizens have a voice and be their advocate.
