Marquette Greene-Scott’s primary focus as city councilwoman and mayor pro tem of Iowa Colony is infrastructure and economic growth without overlooking the essence of the city, its rural area. Marquette has come to understand the importance of working with and holding developers accountable. While the city welcomes the growth, we must remain diligent to enforce the standards set forth by the predecessors of this great city.

Marquette loves Iowa Colony and is excited to represent the various communities of it.  Marquette vows to make informed decisions and always do what is in the best interest of all the citizens of Iowa Colony. Marquette also believes in community involvement and welcomes constituents’ communications.

Marquette was born to Beatrice Greene and the late Joseph Greene, a Vietnam Veteran, in Opelousas, Louisiana.  She is the youngest of five children and the proud mother of a 23-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn.  Marquette is also a newlywed and has recently married Lisco Scott.

Marquette is a graduate of Southern University and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, both located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Marquette is a former teacher and an attorney practicing in Texas and Louisiana. Marquette is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and strongly believes in service to all mankind.
