At the regular City of Iowa Colony city council meeting held on September 21, 2020 the City Council unanimously approved the adoption of the FY 21 budget and tax rate. Through hard work of the City Council, Mayor, staff, and with citizen input, this year's tax rate was lowered from $0.489209 to $0.469209. Mayor Michael Byrum-Bratsen said "the lowering of the tax rate and the new homstead exemption should help homeowners see a reduction in their property taxes due to the City for 2021." During the meeting Ron Cox, city consultant, thanked the Mayor and Council for their hard work and dedication to adopting this year's budget and tax rate.

The newly adopted FY 21 budget begins October 1, 2020 and runs through September 30, 2021. This budget funds the maintenance and operations of the city and funds debt service payments. A copy of the FY 21 budget can be found by clicking here.
