Closure of City Hall Due to COVID-19

Brazoria County, including the City of Iowa Colony and surrounding areas, has seen a drastic increase in COVID-19 related cases in the past month. The City received notice on Monday December 21, 2020 that our Trauma Service Area (TSA), which includes Brazoria County and surrounding counties, has had seven consecutive days in which the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients, as a percentage of total hospital capacity, exceeded 15% and has been deemed a high hospitalization area.

Due to the increase in COVID-19 related cases the Mayor has authorized the closure of Iowa Colony City Hall effective Monday December 28, 2020 and until further notice. City Staff will be working virtually during this time. Staff will be available during normal City Hall business hours, Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

The Iowa Colony Municipal Court will remain available by phone or email. All defendants should contact the court to make arrangements prior to their court date. No window traffic will be handled except during regularly scheduled court dockets. Court dockets will continue to be held as scheduled. Additional preventive measures will be put into place to ensure the safety of court staff and defendants during these dockets.
