District B

Kareem Boyce

Council Member Kareem Boyce

Kareem Boyce was born and raised in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. He lost his mom at the early age of 9, due to complications during the birth of his younger brother. Despite the unfortunate and life-altering event, he and his siblings were extremely blessed to have a determined father and close-knit family, unrelenting in providing support, guidance and unconditional love. He is eternally grateful for his “village” and how it has evolved and grown over the years and helped to create the man he is today.

He attended the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University where he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, achieved his bachelor’s degree, and would meet his (future) wife, Kharla. After working part-time for a local bank to help finance his studies, he was extended a job opportunity allowing him to relocate to Arlington, TX, where he resided for two-years before returning to NY and reconnecting with Kharla. The couple were married several years later and have three beautiful children: Madison, Hannah, and Owen. Their son is the lone native Texan in their #PartyOf5, born shortly after their family relocated to Houston in 2015.

Kareem has worked in the financial services sector for over 25 years, with 19 of those years spent at his current employer Citibank, where has held various integral roles, presently a Vice President on the Partner Management side of the business. In 2021, he made the decision to continue his education, and obtained his M.B.A. from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022. When he isn’t working or trying to keep pace with his children’s busy schedules, Kareem has been active in ministry, volunteerism, planning and coordinating varying community events and initiatives, a member of the Iowa Colony Juneteenth Committee, and is currently also serving as a Meridiana Community Liaison.

Since moving to Iowa Colony, Kareem has watched in awe as this city has grown and flourished under its past and present leadership, council, and boards. He intends on continuing in that same vein being of an open mind, exercising sound judgment & decision-making, and having an unwavering commitment to the positive furtherance and success of this city. Kareem is humbled by the opportunity to serve those within Council District B, and to work alongside the Mayor, council and staff towards the continued betterment of the City of Iowa Colony.
